5th Annual Tufts Basketball Classic

The Medford High School Mustangs and Somerville High School Highlanders girls’ and boys’ basketball teams will face off once again at the fifth annual Tufts Classic on Sunday, January 14 at the Cousens Gymnasium (161 College Avenue, Medford) on Tufts’ Medford/Somerville campus. 

The girls’ game will tip off at 12 p.m., and the boys’ game will tip off at 1:30 p.m.

All campus neighbors are invited to come cheer on the Somerville Highlanders and the Medford Mustangs as they compete for the Tufts Classic Trophy.

Admission to the Tufts Classic is free for all. Parking is free after filling out a parking form. (see below) Fans are encouraged to bring nonperishable food and household items to support those in need in both Medford and Somerville. Preferred items include canned foods and shelf stable pantry items, in addition to hygiene and household products. 

All high school players and coaches will each receive a t-shirt to commemorate their participation in this year's Tufts Classic.

Event Information

  • During the Tufts Classic, parking will be free in Cousens Lot and in Dowling Garage with parking code. To access the free parking code, you must fill out this form.

  • Admission to the Tufts Classic is free. Fans are encouraged to bring nonperishable food and household items to support two local pantries: 

    • Medford – Mystic Community Market (based in the Walnut Street Center)
    • Somerville – Project SOUP, Somerville Homeless Coalition

    Preferred items include canned foods and shelf stable pantry items, in addition to hygiene and household products. Please make sure donated food items are not near or past the expiration date.
