Campus Construction Projects
Construction for Good
While campus construction can create challenges for our neighbors, many of the current projects underway at Tufts have been designed to serve our host communities’ needs alongside the university’s.
As Tufts works toward the goal of carbon-neutrality by 2050, renovations and construction continue to play an important role. Many of the building updates planned or underway right now serve to reduce carbon emissions and promote climate resiliency.
Across our medical, veterinary, dental, nutrition, and veterinary schools, Tufts health sciences researchers are collaborating on efforts like preventing the next pandemic and improving health care equity. Many campus construction projects ensure that our scholars and the clinicians they train have the tools, resources, and facilities needed to solve some of the most important problems facing our communities.
The Government and Community Relations team makes public presentations to our host communities routinely for feedback and input about campus construction projects, public health and safety, community programming, and more. View the Tufts Community Presentation Archives.
Adding Campus Housing
Increasing campus housing for residential students is a top priority for Tufts. The university already houses 100% of its first- and second-year undergraduates, and we’re working to increase the number of third- and fourth-years living on campus as well.
The university added more than 450 beds over the past 5 years and plans to add more in the near future, including a new high-density, on-campus residence hall.
Past Construction Projects
Work begins on simulation clinics for medical and veterinary students, and continues on a new academic center slated to open in 2022.
