Biography

Rocco DiRico is executive director, leading the government and community relations team and serving as the liaison to elected officials, community partners and neighbors in Medford and Somerville.  He supports campus construction projects by assisting with local approvals, permitting, and inspections.  Rocco also advises faculty and staff at Tufts who seek to collaborate with local, state, and federal governmental offices.  

Before joining the office of Government and Community Relations in 2016, he worked in the United States House of Representatives and the United States Senate for fifteen years where he specialized in economic development, telecommunications and transportation issues.  

He currently serves on the boards of the Medford Chamber of Commerce, the Somerville Chamber of Commerce and the Medford Public Library Foundation.  

Rocco, a Medford native, has a BA in political science from Providence College and a master’s degree in public administration from Suffolk University. 

When not at work, he enjoys spending time with his family, walking his dog, and coaching youth sports.
